Just a preliminary sketch to start working out her look and costume as I described it. It worked well on the human version there, tho the Sparrow version needed some tweaks....

Lessons learned - I need to be more careful about sizes when lining up shots like this. It makes the "furry" version of Sparrow look weird compared to the smaller human version.

Great design. Her name seems like she should be a Hawkgirl knock-off, so the idea of her being an archer is an interesting twist. I like the fact that you've managed to incorporate both the archer and bird motifs into the costume. Actually, not quite as revealing as I initially imagined, but still very sexy. I like it! After seeing this, I reiterate my call for more with this character.

Sparrow = SP. Arrow = Special Arrow

Scarlet came about because Sparrow seemed a rather silly name all by itself. originally she was "Red Sparrow", but that didn't feel right to me, so I decided to go the Wonder Woman path and use the same first letter. Thus she became Scarlet Sparrow. :)

Ah! Now that you explained the name, it makes perfect sense. Because she started out as Silver Swan's sidekick, I just assumed you were sticking with the bird motif, "sparrow" meaning "sp. arrow" never occurred to me. You're right, "Sparrow" by itself seems rather blah, and I'm a big fan of alliteration. I always wondered if that was because it is so common in comics and I read so many comics as a kid, or if one of the reasons I always liked comics is because I got to see so much alliteration.

As odd as it sounds, I made up Silver Swan specifically for that tale. Scarlet Sparrow came first in my imagination. Swan was invented to give her a Batman-esque background. :)

If I was a villianess....I would be scared of her.

Somehow I wager your little hero stories would be more likely working WITH her. I think your "hero" character was "Flower Child"?

Oh yes....Sparrow would fit right in. Thanks to Creeper and Erikson...we even have furry versions. My alter ego is the Blonde Binder who furry version is The Mink Binder. Flowerchild became Foxchild.
