Commissions and Me

Mon Sep 14, 2009, 3:37 AM
  • Mood: Artistic
This is to clarify things, as I am getting tired of notes asking about this again and again and again.

I DO NOT DO COMMISSIONS OR REQUESTS.

Thank you. If you're an artist, I will do an art trade, but that's as far as it goes.

Devious Journal Entry

Hrm, one of those Memes. I guess I can't complain, considering I started one myself (or trying to). This one seems harmless enough.

I have been tagged by Hypercat Z to do this:

1. Pick 5 OCs (original characters) of yours
2. Ask them 8 questions
3. Tag 3 other people

OC list: Tasha, Lady Helen Callisto, Charles "Voodoo" Winbourne, Qari, Velma Yuu

Questions:

1: Since we have your names, let's start with Species. So, what are you?

Tasha: Human or Skunk base, and with my nanites I can be any species I want.

Callisto: Human or Bunny, depending on world. Occasionally I use a draconic form.

Voodoo: Buncha freaks... I'm human.

Qari: Unknown species of lizard.

Velma: Sheep.

2: Occupation, or "What do you do for a living"?

Tasha: Freelance inventor.

Callisto: Wizard and council

Voodoo: Professional Wrestler

Qari: Um... I'm between jobs right now, but I tend to do some sidelining as a bouncer.

Velma: College Student. I'm training to be an Archeologist.

3: Sex and sexual orientation?

Tasha: I'm female, and Bi-sexual.

Callisto: Female, and while technically none of your business, I'm a Lesbian.

Voodoo: Straight man. I ain't getting it on with NO other dudes!!

Qari: Um... Mostly straight tho I've... dallied *blush*

Velma: I woulda said straight but I met this one girl....

4: Okay, since you've got me as an artist, what're your thoughts on BDSM, and what's your orientation there?

Tasha: Oh you can bet I'm into BDSM!! Mostly subby, but I switch a good bit.

Callisto: Dominant. BDSM is fun at times, and occasionally I can be convinced to submit, but those are rare individuals.

Voodoo: Pshhh. I like to tie my girlfriend up, does that count?

Qari: I've been called submissive. I'm still kinda new to the whole thing... Tho I keep ending up in Pony Boots....

Velma: I've dabbled a bit, tho I seem to do okay as a switch, I end up being the one all tied up most of the time.

5: So you have a favorite fictional character, and if so who?

Tasha: Gotta go with Pepe Le-Pew. I may never want to be the target of his affections, but the old shows made me laugh.

Callisto: I don't watch television or movies. Admittedly I found Gandalf from "Lord of the Rings" fascinating.

Voodoo: My older cousin Max. (Um, any chance of a more well known character?) Alright fine. I grew up watching "Hulk" Hogan on TV, and wanted to be like that when I was a kid. Happy now? (Close enough....)

Qari: I never really thought about it... I guess I'd have to say Skeeve from the "Myth" series of books.

Velma: Who else? Indiana Jones!! Okay... maybe a bit of Laura Croft cause she's a woman too, but Indy has got her licked hands down. (That gives an kinky mental image there). What? NONono!! Not like that!!!

6: Okay, here's an easy one. What's you're favorite color?

Tasha: Green... No Blue... uh....

Callisto: Violet

Voodoo: Green and black.

Qari: Um... I have to choose just one?

Velma: Eggshell Blue.

7: Do you have any pets?

Tasha: Not counting the girls that end up on my leash?

Callisto: I had a raven familiar when I first learned magic, but he long left.

Voodoo: Travel around too much, so no.

Qari: No, not really. Tho there is this stray cat I like to feed.

Velma: Not allowed to have pets on the quad, tho if I could I'd get me a puppy....

8: Last question. What's your favorite way to dress (IE: Outfits, general attire, etc)?

Tasha: It's situational. If I'm going out, a nice Qi-pao. If I'm staying in, just jeans and a cami. Almost always tho it comes with a corset and high heels.

Callisto: I am never seen without my full gown. If I must be modern, I have a lavender leather business suit I wear.

Voodoo: Pshhh, women. Jeans and a T-shirt and my combat boots.

Qari: Um... More like that weird guy. I like my jeans and t-shirts too... tho I prefer bare feet.

Velma: A loose fitting sweater and a miniskirt and heels. Nice classic look there.

Thank you all for your time.

Maids stole my brain...

I've seen RPGs for just about everything. Super heroes, wild west, fantasy, sci-fi, Star Wars, post apocolyptia... Even cobbled together worlds with a bit of everything like RIFTS. But I think now I've seen damn near everything, thanks to a friend of mine.

[link]

Yes, it's a roleplaying game. Yes I bought it. Yes it's that damn good.

Seriously tho, knowing my interest in maids (One only has to look at my art to confirm it), a friend sent me this link. They were sold out of the hard-copy for months, and finally, the past few weeks, they went back into print. I finally got my much anticipated copy, and read it....

I'll admit I was blown away by this RPG. I figured it'd be kinda silly, maybe a bit fun to screw around with, get a few ideas, maybe some nice manga/anime pictures (Since it's essentially a translation of a Japanese game), and just stuff away on some shelf. I was floored when I actually read it. Partly because the art (what little there is) isn't that great. But as I read, the sheer depth in this simple to play game blew me away.

The concept is simple. All the players play a maid, the GM plays the "Master", and everyone goes from there. Leave your shame at the door (they actually recommend that in the forward), bring some D6s, and get ready for some truly odd fun. This is a game that can be as serious or light as you want it. Designed intentionally to replicate the fan-service styles of the "Harem" animes, it skirts a PG/PG-13 line, and tosses out random tidbits that are truly laugh worthy.

Now before I gush all over it, there are downsides:
1: Most everything is determined randomly. This can lead to all sorts of confusion as you end up with tables and tables of what the die rolls can mean (Fortunately you're free to ignore a lot of them if you so choose. A majority of them are alternate rules).
2: If anyone isn't totally comfortable at the table with the idea of playing obviously sexualized females, the discomfort level could get pretty high. This is for people with little to no shame about playing a sexy female character with friends.
3: Going along with that, it's easy for such things to go overboard and into "creepy" levels rivaled in some Hentai (a point the book even jokes about in some places, referencing Bible Black and Uritsukidojo... which the latter I'm sure I misspelled).
4: The chaos is such that the GM can loose control VERY easily, and since in this game the GM essentially plays a character themself (The Master of the manor/mansion/spaceship/whatever), they can get swept up or just blown away.
5: Pre-planning is damn near impossible, since random events (which anyone can initiate for a cost) and general insanity means the players (and even the GM) will go way off track practically before you get started...

Simple truth. if you're looking to play a hero in some big game... actually this might be for you. I think the only real thing the game can't do... is let you play a male. The system is extremely flexible, and with the optional content included you can do almost anything (it's technically 3 books in one. In Japan it was released as one main book and 2 supplements. They combined them into one massive book for the translation, topping at over 200 pages). While it says "maids" on the cover, the general rules are so simple they could easily convert everyone to schoolgirls, or ninja, or whatever. Heck, the pre-written scenarios include ones where the PCs are Shinto Priests guarding a shrine and a "sentai" style 5 maid "team" to take down the evil maids taking over the world (the latter done with tongue firmly planted in cheek). This game was designed to be taken as seriously, or not, as you damn well please.

Overall I cannot recommend it enough. Get it, love it, play it. Hell, even if you just roll dice and try to see how many wacky messed up maids you can make, you'll enjoy it. If you don't... then that stick is planted far too firmly in the mud for me.

R.I.P Ms. Page

Sun Dec 14, 2008, 3:52 AM
  • Mood: Sadness
For those who hadn't heard (all 2 of you), Ms. Bettie Page died on December 11, 2008 at the age of 85. She was a pin-up queen and starred in picture and video shorts featuring lingerie and light BDSM attire and bondage. She became a cult icon and her smokey eyes and painted lips helped many into the sexual revolution of the 1960s.

For those of us who draw, enjoy, participate in, and otherwise interact in, she was also a sort of Patron Saint of the BDSM community. She wasn't the status quo; she wasn't blonde, she didn't have DD breasts, and she hardly looked innocent. All those were hallmarks of the star before her, Marylin Monroe. Instead she brought smokey dark eyes, short cut black hair, and a modest bust-line accented by a slim waist and long legs to die for. She dressed up in all sorts of attire, and always seemed to have a secretive smile that spoke of secret seductions off camera. She seemed to happily get done up in light BDSM situations, usually with other similarly attired ladies, and made it seem like they were all enjoying it to some extent.

This is what I knew of Ms. Page before her death. Much of it were thanks to the observations and introductions (via pictures and print) from Brian Yelverton, who at the time ran a furry "homage" to the infamous Ms Page known as the "Bunny Pages". It was the first mag my art ever saw print in.

However what I didn't know was revealed to me with various articles and obituaries about her death.

I found out Bettie Page was her real name (Stupid I know, but I always assumed it was a Nom De-Plume). I found out she came from a less then happy childhood. I found out she was married 3 times over the course of her life, each one ending shortly after in divorce. I found out she had no children of her own. I found out that when she vanished from the scene it was due to a deep depression, which only got worse after the divorce of her second husband. I found out she came to be a very devout Christian (I think Baptist, but I have no confirmation there) late in life. I found out she always refused to have photos taken of herself later in life because she wanted people to remember her as she was back then.

In short, the smiles and enjoyment I always saw in Ms. Page on the film wasn't in her life. I feel kind of guilty that I got so much enjoyment (I'm intentionally avoiding the word "pleasure" here folks) from her photos and renderings, which was obviously something that she did not. I always thought she vanished at the height of her popularity to retreat to private life and enjoy some privacy. I always pictured her happily married in her old age with a passel of kids, partly because she enjoyed them and partly from a husband who couldn't keep his hands off her.

All those were wrong. She died alone at the age of 85 from a heart attack that landed her in a coma before quietly succumbing. On one hand it seems wrong to just draw a picture of her in some sort of homage. Yet in some way it seems also right, as that's the way she wanted us to remember her.

Either way, I hope our "Patron Saint" and muse finds the happiness she was denied in this life in the next. God Bless and Rest in peace Ms. Page, you will be remembered and forever immortalized by those you brought joy to.

It finally happened, I made it to 50K. The celebration pic is up in the gallery, and I'm thrilled to death to have made it this far. Seemed like it took forever to make it, y'know?
