FAQ:

Q: What the heck is this?
A: This is a random inspiration that is a semi-continuation of this: tcpolecat7.deviantart.com/art/…

Q: Wait, why don't they link up?
A: Because this would happen a few chapters into the story, whenever I sit down and actually write it.

Q: So, does this mean you're writing it now?
A: No, not yet. This is the result of some random thoughts getting together and hiring a 200 lbs gorilla to pound into the ground every other competing idea until I wrote it out. I've only just started some minor work and segments for my "New Breed: Book 3", but this was in the way and demanded out.

Q: So what's with all the weird transitions?
A: The main character, 42, isn't all there in the head, and sometimes sees things in very weird and subjective ways. I was experimenting with how that affected her personal perspective, and wanted to see where it went.

Q: Aren't the Mane 6 dead? How the buck are they in here?!
A: Go read the original Fallout: Equestria. It's been shown that the Mane 6 can use the figurines (Sort of, but it's too complex to go into here) to communicate when the carrier is in a sort of semi-conscious state, and were able to appear in full in Littlepip's dream to combat the influence of the Black Book. In the case of 42, when she's alone and starts in with her weird problems, it allowed them to push through far more than normal.

Q: Doesn't collecting the figures happen pretty late in most stories?
A: Yes. I wanted to experiment with an idea. It will need some tweaking and work, but I liked the idea of them being almost a curse instead of a blessing, and forcing the carrier to distribute the statuettes to the proper places in the wasteland for the later heroes (Littlepip and Security) to find.

Q: Who the heck is "(insert name)"?
A: That was the pony who saved 42 from death in the prologue I linked earlier. I never named her, and I couldn't think of a name I liked for her, so I left myself a marker for where I wanted her name to go, if I ever go back and edit it...

Q: This contradicts my story!!!!!!!1!11!1!11
A: I only follow very few FoE stories. I only take as canon FoE itself, as well as Heroes and Project Horizons. That list might expand in the future, but I want to write, not spend all my time reading other people's stories.

Q: There's a lot of mistakes here...
A: This is very lightly edited, so most of this is pretty raw. I only gave it 2 or 3 passes to clean it up, and on average I do 8 to 10 passes on any "New Breed" chapter before publishing.

Q: Why did you put this up, if it's so incomplete?
A: Because I wanted some extra opinions, and I wanted to share it. Despite its flaws, I rather liked how it turned out...

Q: This is weird.
A: That's not a question, and yes, it is.

This isn't perfect, and there are some things I'm not totally sold on (Like the Mane 6 being able to use the items around them like ghosts, and how fast they change tunes about 42), but otherwise this was an interesting experiment for me.

"Insert name" :D  Given MLP naming convention, you could almost use that as a name in and of itself.  Of course, an adjective-noun like "Empty Placcard" might fit better, if you run with that joke.

I'm with you on the Mane 6 item manipulation thing.  Given it was all (seemingly) a dream they get a bit of extra leeway as to abilities, but regular soul jars didn't tend to be very ambulatory even when they weren't just tiny fragments (though Somber's possessed roll of silk was particularly murderous).  Aside from being unusually driven and "needy" (closest word I could think of), I'm surprised that they'd want to all be split up again.  Also, 42 knows about the ministry of peace and its signiature mark, but doesn't notice it on Fluttershy's cutie mark?

Methane poisoning was handled pretty well, especially the drunken complaints/thoughts.  I thought a gas mask had been found and not equipped, but reading over it again it was just a fragment.  Served as good foreshadowing though.

The Follower dies? :o Noooo, she was so nice!  Looks like the "Holy Path" ritual actually provided some key spiritual cleansing at least, although the parallels with Daniel

Man, that Black Book really gets around.  All the mares want to get their hooves on it.

The Figurines move in real life?  Are you sure they're not miniature Weeping Angels? :D
